The American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) is a non-profit music education organization composed of over 18,000 choral musicians representing schools, colleges and universities, industry and institutional organizations, houses of worship, and community and professional choirs. Our central purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching. In addition, ACDA strives through arts advocacy to elevate choral music’s position in American society.

ACDA is divided into seven geographic regions as well as into state chapters, each with its own conferences, newsletters, festivals, clinics and workshops. Residents of Indiana who join ACDA also become members of the Indiana affiliate organization, the Indiana Choral Directors Association (ICDA). All Indiana members receive copies of Choral Journal (the ACDA national magazine), Resound (Central Division newsletter, published three times a year) and Notations (Indiana’s newsletter, published three times a year).

National conferences are offered in February or March of odd numbered years while the seven division conferences take place in February and March of even numbered years. The 2010 Indiana state conference will be held June 9-11 at the University of Indianapolis. Information will be provided in the state newsletter and on this web site in the early months of 2010.

If you are interested in membership, simply print and complete the ACDA Membership Form and follow its mailing instructions. For more information, click on the Leadership tab on this web page.

Membership is a wonderful opportunity for networking with hundreds of colleagues who are active in the choral art. Our publications and conferences provide members with diverse and practical forums through which we develop and sharpen our professional skills. Why not join today?
